Looking at this photograph my eye was first drawn to the lady stuck. I was drawn there first because she is the main object of the photo; her facial expression shows that she may be in shock and/or is confused as to how she got stuck. There is also another body in the picture but the only thing showing is an arm and maybe some hair. By the way the body is laid out the person might have been killed by the previous events and ended up like that; or they could be seriously injured and haven’t gotten up. I can’t really tell but it looks like there may have been a split caused in the ground which may have caused the lady to end up with her hair caught between them. Also maybe she fell in shock that the person near to here has been killed by the disaster.
What’s going on 1-26-21
Academically, I am currently doing my internship and am only taking this one class. I wanted to ease the burden this semester by not taking another class (that I will take later) because fall semester was very hard for me academically and personally. I am interning at my the job I already had so it wasn’t hard for me to figure it out I just had to get all the paperwork straight. Last semester I dropped English because I couldn’t handle the load along with the other classes I was taking. I think this it was a good choice because I am able to actually dedicate time to getting the work done properly as well as I have a professor that is focusing on work that will actually benefit me in the long term. My last professor had us doing movie critique/review papers. Personally I am working to save up for a new car sometime this year and hopefully an apartment with my friends. This year I am also focusing on my career and trying to figure out what I want to do with it.
“Children Playing Gangsters” Mary Ellen Mark
My eya was first drawn to the guns that are present. Seeing that the name of the art title contains gangster it made me think that the children were playing with real guns in order to feel as if they were actually gangsters. There is a group of really young boys standing up against a wall with there arms up as if they were being detained. This makes me think that they were out in public playing around and were caught and told that this isn’t something they should be pretending to be. In the top right corner there is a no trespassing sign; the boys may have been running around and ended up somewhere they shouldn’t have been may because they were curious about this forbidden place. The group of boys are also African-american, so it would be easy for most people to presume that they live in the “hood” or “ghetto”. They probably grow up around people who are actually in gangs and carry around weapons.
